Hiring a motivated Full-Time Sod Farm Manager responsible for, mowing, fertilization, irrigation, spraying, harvesting and general farm upkeep. Sod Farm Manager will manage day-to-day farm operations, and report directly to Owner Operator, communicating farm condition and needs.
The Sod Farm Manager and the two team members he/she supervises will safely operate mowers, harvesters, pivot irrigation systems, tractors, and forklifts, as needed on a daily basis. The Farm Manager is responsible for ensuring equipment is washed, filled with fuel, and available to assist with any necessary maintenance.

Harvesting Operations:
Ensure sod and pallet quality to customer satisfaction.
Operate (or oversee operation of) a sod harvester, including machine adjustments to proper cutting depth, downward pressure, and conveyor speed.
Maintain (or oversee maintenance of) harvester including, but not limited to greasing, changing blades, chain tensions, tire pressure, and worn bearings, checking fluid levels etc.

Mowing Operations:
Operate (or oversee operation of) a 3-deck roller mower using a variety of tractor sizes.
Maintain (or oversee maintenance of) mower and tractor including, but not limited to greasing, checking oil levels, checking for worn bearings, tire air pressures and sharpening/replacing blades.

Irrigation, Pest and Weed Control Operations:
Determine appropriate irrigation, pesticide and herbicide needs and adjust accordingly.
Operate (or oversee operation of) Center pivot irrigation systems.
Operate (or oversee operation of) tow behind sprayers. Manage the mixing and spraying of pesticides and herbicides.

Forklift Operations:
Operate (or oversee operation of) front loader and Moffett. These tasks include staging pallets in an accessible area for loading, loading pallets for shipping and moving harvesting supplies to different points on farm.
Maintain (or oversee maintenance of) forklift including, but not limited to checking fluid levels, checking tire pressures, and checking for worn bearings and reports any maintenance issues.

Qualities, Experience and Education:
• Previous farming experience is required.
• Experience operating a sod harvester, mower, pivot irrigation systems, and forklifts strongly preferred.
• Experience maintaining and repairing farm equipment strongly preferred.
• Previous experience as Sod Farm Manager preferred.
• Working knowledge of the hazards and safety precautions of the profession.
• Should maintain a neat and clean working area.
• Demonstrate the ability to be a team player and build positive working relationships with others.
• A valid State Driver’s License
• Ability to discern what issues need to be brought to employer’s attention
• Ability to help diagnose equipment issues and determine appropriate maintenance work
• Ability to work flexible hours to include, but not limited to, early AM/PM, nights and weekends and hours that could fluctuate day-to-day
• Ability to work in adverse weather conditions required
• Ability to lift, push, pull heavy materials (50+lbs) frequently

$50,000 per year for the right person
